Terms of use and acceptance of responsibility

Version 3

These terms are an agreement between you and Brassroll Pty Ltd (ABN 77 702 959 939), 6/50 Miller St, North Sydney NSW 2060, Australia ("we", "us"). Please read them carefully. You must accept them before using the app. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.

1. what this app is

1.1 The app is a personal record-keeping aid. It helps you record firearms, ammunition, licences, permits, activities, maintenance and related information, and it calculates reminders and progress from what you enter.

1.2 The app is not legal advice. It is not produced, endorsed or checked by any police force, firearms registry, government agency or shooting organisation.

1.3 Nothing in the app replaces your licence, permits, registration certificates, the legislation, or the directions of your licensing authority or club. If anything in the app differs from those, they prevail.

2. your responsibility for complying with the law

2.1 You alone are responsible for complying with every law that applies to you, in every state or territory where you hold a licence, keep, carry, use, transport, acquire or dispose of firearms or ammunition. This includes licensing, registration, genuine reason, participation and club requirements, safe storage, transport, acquisition, disposal, notification deadlines, ammunition, reloading and explosives rules.

2.2 You must check every requirement, limit, period and deadline with your licensing authority, your club or the legislation yourself. You must not rely on the app to tell you what the law requires.

2.3 The requirements, limits and notes supplied with the app may be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Each figure shows its source and the date it was checked, and some are labelled as unverified. Laws change often, and the app has no internet connection, so it cannot learn of changes by itself.

2.4 If you change, customise or add a requirement, limit or task, you are responsible for its accuracy.

3. errors and failures

3.1 The app is software and may contain errors. Without limiting that, calculations of participation, ammunition stock, round counts, firearm numbers, due dates and progress may be wrong. Reminders, notifications and calendar entries may be late, missing or incorrect, or may be blocked by your phone's settings.

3.2 Records may be lost or damaged, for example through a lost or broken phone, an app or operating-system update, a failed restore, or a forgotten backup password.

3.3 You must keep your own independent records of anything you are legally required to keep or produce, and you must not rely on the app as your only record or your only reminder.

4. your data and security

4.1 Your records are stored only on your phone, in encrypted form. No one else, including us, can recover them for you.

4.2 You are responsible for the security of your phone, its screen lock, your backups and your backup passwords. A backup cannot be opened without its password, and the password cannot be recovered.

4.3 Reports, exports and calendar entries you create are not encrypted by the app. Calendar entries may be copied to an online account, depending on the calendar you choose. You are responsible for where you save or share them.

4.4 Photos keep the information recorded by the camera, which may include the date, time and location.

5. reloading, maintenance and safety

5.1 The app records reloading data you enter. It does not check that any load is safe. Always follow published load data from reputable sources and the component makers' instructions.

5.2 Maintenance suggestions are general. Follow the firearm manufacturer's instructions, and use a licensed gunsmith where appropriate.

5.3 Safety information in the app is general. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and your range's standing orders. You are responsible for the safe handling, storage and use of firearms and ammunition.

6. limits on our liability

6.1 The app is a record-keeping aid. We do not promise that the rules pack is complete or current, that reminders will arrive, or that records will not be lost (see clauses 2 and 3).

6.2 Subject to clause 7, we are not liable for loss arising from:

(a) treating a figure, count or label in the app as a statement of what the law requires of you;

(b) a missed or late reminder;

(c) loss of records you have not backed up; or

(d) a fine or penalty, or the refusal, suspension or cancellation of a licence or permit.

6.3 Subject to clause 7, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or connected with the app or these terms, however arising (including in negligence), is limited to the amount you paid for the app.

6.4 Subject to clause 7, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss.

7. australian consumer law

7.1 Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

7.2 Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified.

8. changes

8.1 These terms may be updated. If they change, the app will ask you to read and accept the new version before you continue using it.

9. complaints

9.1 If you have a complaint, please email us first at info@brassroll.com. We will try to resolve it within 30 days.

9.2 Nothing in this clause limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, including your right to go to a court or tribunal.

10. general

10.1 If any part of these terms is invalid or unenforceable, that part is read down or severed, and the rest continues to apply.

10.2 These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales. The courts and tribunals of New South Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction.

By accepting, you confirm that you have read and understood these terms, that you are 18 or over, and that you agree to them.

These are the terms the app asks you to accept (from the app's source, 2026-10-28).
